For now, this site will serve as a supplement to PDCMagic.com -- but in time, it could grow to be even more functional and community-oriented than our original home.

Profile Questions

What questions should we have in the user profiles here? The only one I came up with was "Favorite Deck." What other information is useful or interesting about PDC community members?

Why Ning?

There are several reasons I think Ning is a good direction to explore for the future of PDC's web presence.

First, it's free. You can't argue with that.

Second, it allows for much greater user input in the creation and maintenance of content, data, and information. More people can do more stuff at any time, without worrying as much about access levels and all that.

Third, it allows for 'commenting' on almost every type of content, which is (IMO) a huge benefit. We can begin attaching metagame… Continue

G/W Slivers: A Premier Event Report

After missing the first few pauper Premium Events due to work commitments, I found myself with a Saturday off and 6 tix. I believe last Saturdays event pulled in 94 people, all gunning for the top 8. The biggest threat? Mono black control. Thanks to cards like Warren Pilferers, Tendrils of Corruption, Corrupt, Chittering Rats and Okiba-Gang Shinobi the deck has been performing well for the last several months. I believe that this is the deck you absolutely must be able to beat when choosing your deck.

Running The Numbers: PE Edition

With the innagural Classic Pauper PE, I decided it was time to revive "Running The Numbers" to take a look at the event that was and the information we can glean from the results. There is a lot to look at so I am going to jump right in.

Holiday Freestyle

After what I am sure was an agonizing wait for so many, Michael and I are back with another Pauper Podcast. Honestly, we were just happy to find a time to get this thing recorded, so the content itself is quite varied. We discuss MPDC 4.09, our Magic life outside of PDC, and a bit of Peasant Magic. I hope you enjoy - I'm sure you'll learn something you didn't know before!

Get your popcorn ready 'cause it's gonna be show!

Latest Developments: Developing an Answer

The Magic 2010 design team created an excellent set that captured the feel of Alpha and enriched it with years of experience in card design. The set has many cards that each give a translation of a single piece of fantasy into a viable Magic card. This, however, is more of a nuts-and-bolts type card the developers made to fill a specific role.

Top Decks: Twice as Better

A few weeks ago, our friend Matt Boccio said that part of his decision to go Mono-White Kithkin for the PTQ he won was that Glorious Anthem is better than Zealous Persecution. It seemed like such a good impetus to such a good deck decision at the time ... but in light of today's preview card? His reasoning goes from great to almost comical. I think you'll join me in a good, old-fashioned wow.

From the Lab: Within the Hive Mind

Today's preview card shows off the dark side of sharing.

Magic Arcana - Magic: The Puzzling, Duels Style

So you haven't played Duels of the Planeswalkers? And you've got some excuse like "I don't have an Xbox," which is fine, but that means you're missing out on some fun.

Player Rewards

I looked at the forum post in (TERROR),worried that it would, once again (INCINERATE) my hopes. Were the rewards, once again, going to be some textless card that would simply REMOVE my SOUL? So often, the player rewards cards - and especially the FNM and judge foils - have been cards that are about to rotate out. I looked. You know, the Player Rewards program ain't all that bad.

Eternal Ramblings - Flashback

2 cards, 2 mana, lose 28 life. I played the restricted ex-dominant Flash-Hulk in three Classic events on the weekend of June 20 and 21, and made top 8 in all three. In reporting on the three tournaments, I cover a LOT of related stuff, including the Classic metagame, some theorizing, and my thoughts - a lot of them - on the Flash deck I played.

State of the Program - July 3rd 2009

The down and dirty about the promo program! Spoiler warning. Everything beyond the 'discussion items' contains spoiler stuff. Skip the prices this week if you don't want to know about the M10 cards!
